National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

Today we remember female engineering students murdered at Ecole Polytechnique, December 6, 1989. The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women was created by the Government of Canada as a result of this unspeakable tragedy.

GET INVOLVED:
Remember the names of the female victims, light a candle, attend commemorative events, and add your voice for gender equality.

THE FACTS – VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN IN CANADA:
Being female remains the highest risk factor for violence against women and girls, and young women in Canada face 12x the risk for intimate partner violence as compared to young Canadian males. Misogyny and gender-based violence still occur and we must not be complacent – every 2 days a woman loses her life to family violence in Canada.
