DESCRIPTION:Every year on March 8\, International Women’s Day (IWD) is recognized and celebrated around the world. IWD is more than an event\, it is a movement that began in 1911\, in recognition of the need for gender equality. Globally\, violence against women is the most significant human rights issue\, and the theme of IWD 2026 is GIVE TO GAIN. Giving to women’s equality can be in a number of ways: donating to organizations that serve women\, reducing barriers for women in the workplace and in society\, recognizing and celebrating the contributions of women\, ensuring that safety and respect are universally and consistently maintained\, giving women rights and freedoms related to their health and bodies\, and much more. SUMMARY:Soup Sisters Winnipeg - Soup-Making Event
DESCRIPTION:Soup Sisters Winnipeg has supported Willow Place for over ten years. Currently they plan four soup-making events a year\, graciously supported by the Fairmont Hotel Winnipeg\, who provides professional kitchen and staff to assist with soup-making\, shops and partially prepares ingredients; and provides serving staff for the event. Each event produces five varieties of nutritious soup for Willow Place’s busy violence prevention shelter program. \nThe soup-making event includes appetizers and wine before the soup-making begins\, and also features short presentations by Soup Sisters\, Willow Place and the Fairmont Hotel. For soup-making\, the guests are divided into five teams\, each taking care of one soup recipe.  While the soups are simmering\, participants enjoy a light supper of soup\, salad\, bread and coffee/tea.  After dinner\, the participants package and label the soup for delivery to Willow Place’s shelter program. \nTickets are $72.00 each and to reserve your spot\, please contact Soup Sisters Winnipeg by emailing hzimmer55@gmail.com.
