Call for Proposal: Develop and distribute multi-media tools to support domestic violence education and community engagement.

Challenge for Change is a domestic violence system change project. It is using a collective impact approach to achieve change and Willow Place is acting as the backbone organization. Project oversight and guidance is provided by a multi-sector Steering Committee. Project management is provided by a part-time project manager.
One of the underpinnings of the project is addressing system gaps and barriers at a root cause level by challenging prevalent attitudes and beliefs about gender-based violence and domestic violence within the system and with the general public. Three key areas of focus have been identified:

1. Currently, programs and front-line service providers do not share a common understanding or response to domestic violence. Service providers often don’t know how to recognize domestic violence, have initial conversations or provide appropriate referral to resources.

2. Domestic violence and gender-based violence continue to be prevalent in our society within all cultures and across all socio-economic spheres. Where entire communities have experienced trauma, family violence can become normalized.

3. Prevention begins with children and youth learning about healthy and unhealthy relationship in schools and in community spaces. Parents, family members, educators and community workers often feel ill-equipped to create safe spaces for children and youth to break the silence of their own family experiences and support healing and resiliency.
In response to these areas of need the project will develop videos, discussion guides and other supporting tools and materials; develop the distribution channels for these tools and support the uptake of these tools.

The project is seeking a consultant to provide leadership to the development, distribution and uptake of multi-media tools to support education and engagement. The consultant will lead a working group that implements the development, distribution and uptake of multi-media tools to support education and engagement with a particular focus on youth and the service provider environments. This will support the system focused prevention and early intervention strategies that fall within the scope of the project.

Scope of Work
 Engage with youth to produce a series of youth inspired videos (or other media);
 Develop discussion guides to support their use in community and school settings;
 Support the enhancement of the Healthy Relationship curriculum across grades with these tools;
 Engage with the Indigenous and Newcomer communities, especially men, to produce at least 2 videos;
 Develop discussion guides and distribution channels to support their use in community, school and work settings;
 Develop the content and distribution channels for on-line and/or in-person workshops for all public sector employees.

Remuneration, Time Period and Reporting
This is a fixed price contract for thirty thousand dollars ($30,000) beginning January 2018 to April 30, 2020. Evening and weekend work will be required. The consultant will report to the Challenge for Change Project Manager.

Consultant Experience
 Experience working with children and youth;
 Extensive understanding of domestic violence and gender-based violence;
 Knowledge of how current social and public systems interact;
 Experience developing educational media /learning aids; and
 Ability to engage/mobilize others and lead working groups
